How to Transfer a Domain Name to SharkHosting

For an easy transfer make sure:

- The domain name has NOT been newly registered in the past 60 days.
- The domain is unlocked.
- Make sure the domain is eligible for transfer from your current registrar.
- We send emails to the registrant and administrative contact as listed in the domain's WHOIS. Make sure that's you!

Note: A domain transfer fee is applicable to all domain transfers. This in turn, in the majority of cases, will renew/extend your domain for another year.

Firstly, you will need to place a domain transfer order with us by going to Once this order has been made and the transfer fee paid, you then need to ensure all your details are acurate and correct with your current domain registrar. You will need to ensure that your personal details are correct and that there is no registrar or transfer lock enabled. It also helps to disable any domain ID protection that may be in place.

Next, if you have taken out web hosting with us (your website has been setup on it) and wish to use your domain with that package, you will need to make sure that your domain's nameservers are correct with your current domain registrar to avoid any possible downtime during the transfer process. You will find the correct nameservers for your domain within the Your Web Hosting Account Information email which was sent to you when you setup your web hosting package. If you cannot locate these, please let us know. You will need to allow at least 24 hours after these changes before moving onto the next step.

Once you have updated the nameservers and allowed 24 hours for these to propagate, you can provide your current registrar with our tag "ENOM" for .uk domains. For any other domain extensions such as .com or .net, you will need to obtain an auth code or a EPP code from your current domain registrar. Once you are given an auth or EPP code, you can update us with this either by going to your Client Area at and raising a support ticket or by emailing us with the subject " - TRANSFER IN" at [email protected] and providing the code to us. You must do this within 72 hours of placing your order otherwise the transfer will be cancelled.

That's it! Please bear in mind that domain transfers can take up to 10 working days.
