This is an IMPORTANT announcement!
In the last 48 hours we have become aware of the shocking news that around 20 web hosting providers, mainly VPS providers, are shutting down with just a few days notice for their clients. To be very clear from the start, we, SharkHosting, are NOT affected by this.
The latest news suggests that something called "DeadPooling" is taking place. DeadPooling is when a person or company sets themselves up to provide very low cost hosting for a few months and then, disappear with no chance of a refund for the customer. Strange! Haven't we just had Black Friday & Cyber Monday deals? Planned? You decide.
Anyway, at least 20 web hosting providers have hastily notified customers that they plan to shut down, giving their clients just two days to download data from their accounts before servers are shut down and wiped clean.
The list of providers that notified customers about their impending shutdown includes:
All the services listed above offer cheap low-end virtual private servers (VPSes).
It is suspected however that all 20 websites are part of an affiliate scheme or a multi-brand business ran by the same entity.
With this sudden shutdown, many subscribers will loose their entire online presence, and are going to need to start over again with a new hosting company.
For nearly 4 years, SharkHosting has provided fast, reliable, and secure hosting for a reasonable price. With year-round 24-hour live support, and a commitment to continual improvement, we warmly welcome anyone affected by the sudden, unexpected closing of their hosting company to join us.
To make the transition process simple, we provide a free website migration service. We also offer a multitude of innovative features that will allow you to launch your new site quickly, with minimal challenges. So tell your friends!
Well, there you have it! We just wanted to let you all know what was happening out there and to not worry. We are not going anywhere and you are in safe hands.
Thank you very much for taking the time to read this announcement. It is important to remember to always keep your own off-site account/website backups. Avoid those £1 hosts promising the Earth, and stick with us. We won't let you down.
